Inspiration for Eagle's Perch Chair
The inspiration for “Eagle’s Perch” comes from the many eagles that perch in the trees above and at eye level outside my studio waiting patiently to see something that catches their interest out on the water. Then with a mighty swoosh they are off. Just as with this hall chair we sit, maybe put on our shoes, tie our laces and off we go into the world.
Little do the eagles know they are my inspirational catch and the music of their calls create perfect muses.
The entire chair is made from Vancouver Island woods which no doubt would have had an eagle or two land on their mighty limbs.
The three different woods are Douglas fir, Maple and Red cedar.

Hi everyone!
I have recently returned from a trip to China!
The 12 Day Middle Kingdom tour was a revelation and opened my eyes to that which humankind is capable.
The Qin Dynasty Terra Cotta Army took my breath away!
Yes, this was an ego gone berserk, but that 2200 years ago this creative genius existed to produce one of the wonders of the world.

To share this experience with our sons Trevor and Troy made it even more special!
Here is a glimpse of the journey through the creative sensitive photography of our younger son Troy Schaddelee. See his photos of the journey.
What a wonderful experience for Nadina and others to share the journey from the perspective of Maarten and our sons.
We hope you have enjoyed the pictures of some of Maarten's fine works of art in the image slide shows above. These pictures are just a small sample of his creative brilliance, please come visit the gallery to enjoy seeing and touching this touchable art yourself.
